Visual satire to rouse the imagination

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Winter exhibitions are now open at the Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University’s Evanston campus.

The Satirical Edge in Contemporary Prints and Graphics is provocative and spot-on:

Drawn primarily from the Block collection, this exhibition features works from the 1950s to present day by artists working in America who use the power of printmaking to create outrageous scenes and narratives of warfare, greed, gluttony, and injustice.

Don’t miss the pieces by R. Crumb, Sue Coe, and the Guerilla Girls.
