An acquisitions editor at the University of Iowa Press, Catherine Cocks is the author of Doing the Town: The Rise of Urban Tourism in the United States, 1850-1915 (2001) and Tropical Whites: The Rise of the Tourist South in the Americas (forthcoming in 2013). She is currently writing an article on the relationship between sun tanning, natural selection, and the recasting of race in narrowly biological terms.
