Writer and media artist Marilyn Freeman is author of the forthcoming book, The Art of the Video Essay: Experiments in Text, Sound and Image. Her work has been published in Fourth Genre and Rolling Stone, and online at Blackbird and Ninth Letter. Her current works and research include a focus on the video essay as a creative, contemplative, and critical form; on queer subculture of early Hollywood; and on relationships between the personal and transpersonal in contemplative practices, creative writing, and contemporary media art.
